Recent excavations in the Kyushu, Chugoku and Kinki regions indicate that Cattle (Bovidae family) spread to the Japanese archipelago in the late 5th and 6th centuries. The same even-toed ungulates include the families Cervidae and Bovidae. Therefore, their skeletons inevitably closely resemble those of antelopes belonging to the families Cervidae and Bovidae overall but differ in size and partial morphology.
