Tsukiyamateizōden (kōhen)
築山庭造伝(後編)

Tsukiyamateizōden (kōhen) (Hill garden construction, part 2)

A gardening textbook written by Akisato Ritō. It was published in 1828 and is usually called the sequel (kōhen) because the title is identical to one written by Kitamura Enkinsai in 1735. In this work, Akisato classified gardens into the three categories of hill garden (tsukiyama niwa), flat garden (hira niwa), and tea garden (roji), and into the three styles of formal, semiformal, and informal (shin-gyō-sō) for each category. This book was widely used as a gardening textbook in the late Edo period.
