Fujisan
富士山

Mt. Fuji

The highest mountain in Japan, located in Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefectures. It is a volcano having a lovely conical shape, 3,776 meters in height, and has been celebrated for its beauty since ancient times. It is sometimes reproduced in gardens as a reduced-scale landscape, and the artificial hill in the shape of Mt. Fuji at Suizenji Jōjuen garden is well known. In Kyoto, Mt. Hiei is sometimes compared to Mt. Fuji, and the Fujimi no ma (Mt. Fuji-viewing room) at Saihōji temple was designed for enjoying the view of Mt. Hiei.
