1579-1629. Younger brother of Emperor Go-Yōzei, and founder of the Hachijō no miya family. He was a man of culture who excelled at painting, koto, flower arranging, tea ceremony, kickball, as well as in Japanese and Chinese literature. He constructed Katsura mountain villa, the present Katsura detached palace.
