Guests' Isle


A term found in Tsukiyamateizōden (zenpen) and other gardening works, indicating a peninsula in pond gardens of the Edo period. Of two peninsulas projecting from opposite banks of the near part of the pond, the left one is called "Master's Isle" and the right one "Guests' Isle." The guest-honoring stone and meeting stone, etc., are placed on the Guests' Isle.
