Zuisenji temple was established by Musō Soseki in 1327. The vicinity of the site is bedrock, which was dug to make the garden pond, with islands formed where the bedrock was left standing. The mountain behind the pond is also part of the garden, and there is record of enjoying the view from an arbor on the top of the mountain. The garden is designated a national scenic spot, and is located in the city of Kamakura, Kanagawa prefecture.
