Entsūji teien
円通寺庭園

garden at Entsūji temple

Entsūji temple was established where Retired Emperor Go-Mizunoo's Hataeda palace had been located. To the east of the Buddha hall is a dry landscape garden built in the early Edo period (seventeenth century). It is famous for its borrowed scenery, introducing Mt. Hiei into the garden as an important element in the structure of the garden as a whole. It is designated a national scenic spot, and is located in Sakyō ward, Kyoto.
