Enshūgata tōrō
遠州形燈籠

Enshū lantern


A garden lantern which Kobori Enshū, an early Edo tea master and gardener, is thought to have designed or favored. The roof has corner scrolls and is distinctively tall like an elongated bowler hat, and an arabesque pattern is inscribed on the lamp housing.
