bending stone

One of the key stones placed around the veranda water basin. It is placed half hidden under the veranda to catch the water splashing back from hand washing. The name kagami is a homonym of a form of the verb meaning "to bend over." This stone is also called the "splash back stone" (mizukaeri ishi).
