A Study on the Conservational Maintenance of the Ancient Temple in Korea and Japan : Focused on the Ancient Buddhist Temple Site of the 6th to the 8th Centuries AD

 Abstract: The ancient states of Korea and Japan had built many Buddhist temples under the admission of Buddhism for the reinforced of the regal power and for integrating of the society. The temples were ruined or have been repaired for a long time. Entering the modern times, we have maintained for the aspects of conservation and utility of the cultural heritage. Not the more, the ancient Buddhist temples have been kept in order for these reasons. The varieties of the site planning for the ancient Buddhist temples with the admission and expropriation of Buddhism and even the case study of the modern maintenance were studied in this paper. As a result we found out the main factors of ancient temples such as pagoda, main axis and frontality. Furthermore, we attempted to conduct the advanced process of the maintenance of representation of these factors.
